Songyang county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – launched a cultural exhibition on Feb 1, the first day of the Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, to showcase local customs and culture in relation to the 24 solar terms.
The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms. The exhibition details the 24 solar terms and the unique customs of Songyang during the different solar terms through picture displays and a physical exhibition.
"Through this exhibition, we want to let more people know about the 24 solar terms and Songyang culture, as well as to further enhance their recognition of excellent traditional Chinese culture," said Song Zijun, curator of the Songyang County Museum, where the exhibition is taking place.
In addition, the exhibition area is full of elements of the Year of the Tiger. This is said to provide an immersive experience for visitors to appreciate the collision between traditional culture and modern elements.
According to Song, the museum has been holding cultural activities on the first day of the Lunar New Year for 10 consecutive years, to add a culture atmosphere to the traditional festival.
The exhibition will run to April 3.
