Shankou village in Qingtian county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – held a gala for the upcoming Spring Festival on Jan 25.

Shanko is regarded as being an 'overseas Chinese village' – in that nearly every family there has members living overseas. The gala was broadcast live online, so that the villagers abroad could share in the joy of the traditional festival.

"I really enjoyed the show today. Though I can't go home to have a reunion with my family, it felt like being at home through the livestreaming," said Jin Mei, an overseas Chinese who lives in Portugal.

Shankou village's Spring Festival gala has been held for six years. This year's gala integrated traditional local elements such as Shankou stone carving and the farming culture.
