Zhu Zeliang, head of the Zeliang Brown Suger Workshop in Xinkang village – located in Jinyun county, Lishui city, East China's Zhejiang province – has been busy harvesting sugarcane in recent days.

Sugarcane is the main ingredient of brown sugar.

The land in Xinkang village is mostly sandy soil, which is very suitable for planting sugarcane. The sugarcane produced in the village has high sugar content and is of good quality.

The brown sugar produced by the Zeliang workshop is quite popular among customers. The workshop uses the traditional method of artificial production, which can maximize the retention of all nutrients in the sugarcane juice.

"We also sell all kinds of brown sugar-related products, such as ginger brown sugar, sesame brown sugar, brown sugar crisp cake, and brown sugar wine," said Zhu.

Xinkang village is helping and encouraging villagers to develop brown sugar and other traditional local industries as a source of income.
