Biaoxi village in Jingning She autonomous county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – has developed a lucrative succulent farming industry in recent years, in order to help boost the incomes of local farmers.
A general definition of succulents – which are aesthetically attractive to have about the house – is that they are drought-resistant plants in which the leaves, stems or roots have become more than usually fleshy by the development of water-storing tissues.

The village is also promoting its "yard economy" that encourages every family to grow and sell succulents in their own back yard. Nowadays, almost every corner of Biaoxi village is a virtual succulents shop. If you have your eye on any succulents, just ask the owner and you can buy them right away.
According to recent statistics, the village is now home to more than 50,000 pots of succulents. What's more, the annual net income of some large flower growers can reach more than 20,000 yuan ($3,132.92).
