At the 2021 Lishui Photography Festival, which officially opened on Nov 17 and runs to Nov 21 – in the city of Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province – Luo Dawei is the proud curator of several solo exhibitions.

An art curator's main duties consist of acquiring, collecting and cataloging works of art, as well as ensuring their overall care. He or she is also involved in research, writes articles and may prepare and give lectures.

In 2015, Luo participated in the Lishui Photography Festival for the first time and curated an exhibition containing the works of five artists, winning the grand prize from the organizing committee. Since then, he has become a regular visitor to the festival that is held every two years.

In 2017, the Lishui Photography Festival came up with the concept of "photography as a lifestyle". In the same year, Luo curated several solo exhibitions and organized interviews with exhibitors and other curators through live broadcasting platforms, which generated considerable attention for the festival. In 2019, his curated works were invited to be exhibited in the UK.

Luo's strong opinion about the Lishui Photography Festival is that the growing organizing committee and its operations team behind the festival have provided a perfect platform for photography curators to showcase their ideas and creations.

When told that a total of 6,013 works were received and 887 works were selected to be exhibited this year, Luo said that the 2021 Lishui Photography Festival was no doubt one of the largest photography festivals in China.

"The Lishui Photography Festival is getting better and better every year," he added.
