AviComms Technologies Co Ltd – located in the Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone, in East China's Zhejiang province – recently celebrated the debut of its subsidiary, RS Helikopter GmbH, with a string of lucrative contracts at the 4th China International Import Expo.

The expo, also known as CIIE, was staged in East China's Shanghai city on Nov 5-10.

The helicopter manufacturer signed contracts to build and supply Chinese buyers with eight VA series helicopters – featuring dual, coaxial main rotors, all patented in Germany.

It is understood that the total value of the supply contracts was $4.78 million.

According to the designer, the new-type helicopter is over 30 percent safer than traditional helicopters and the lift it provides is 50 percent greater.

Even if it loses power in unexpected situations, the helicopter can descend slowly like a bamboo dragonfly – a toy helicopter rotor that flies up when its shaft is rapidly spun and falls back gently afterwards.

Boasting excellent maneuverability, the helicopter can rotate 360 degrees and is the first in the world that can fly backwards, which can be performed at 20 kilometers per hour.

"China has broad market prospects," said Li Yuanxi, deputy general manager of AviComms Technologies.

"Our company believes that by participating in the event, we can better understand the needs of domestic customers, so as to develop more suitable helicopter models for them and realize localized production in the Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone," Li added.

The company began building a factory in the zone in April. It will start production and complete the new orders next year, according to Li.
