Introduction:

Santiago, sometimes called Santiago de Chile, is the capital and economic center of Chile. With its museums, events, theaters, restaurants, bars and other entertainment and cultural activities, it is also the cultural heart of the country.

Its central location makes it a convenient base to explore the rest of the country. Due to its proximity to both mountains and the Pacific Ocean, it is possible to ski in the nearby Andes Mountains and later be on the beach, all in the same day. Entertainment can also be had in the city, in its many malls.

Due to the rapid and strong economic development of Chile, many multinational companies choose to locate their regional headquarters in Santiago – among them, HP, Reuters, Intel, Coca Cola, Unilever, Nestle, Kodak, BHP Billiton, IBM, Motorola, Microsoft, Ford Motor and Yahoo.
