The 50-kilometer Lishui Ultra-marathon is scheduled to start on March 22 in Lishui, East China's Zhejiang province. Registrations for the event will begin at midday of Jan 15, local media reported.

The Lishui half-marathon was selected as a bronze event by the Chinese Athletics Association in 2018. With experience in organizing half-marathons, Lishui will deliver a high-standard ultra-marathon this year, according to officials.

The marathon will cover a variety of landscapes including urban areas, greenways, wetland parks and rural areas, enabling the runners to enjoy the unique charms of the local scenery.

Last year's event attracted 13,500 domestic and foreign competitors in various events including the ultra-marathon, half-marathon and mini-marathon. This year, the scale of the competition will be upgraded to 20,000 people.
