Big moments for China-Europe freight trains from Yiwu

China and Spain launched the "Yiwu-Madrid" and "Madrid-Yiwu" commemoration freight trains on the same day on March 9 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Let us reflect on the significant achievements of the Yiwu platform of the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train.

The Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train made its first journey on Nov 18, 2014, traveling from Yiwu to Madrid. This train traveled 13,052 kilometers in 21 days, crossing eight countries in Europe and Asia and becoming the longest journey for a China-Europe freight train at the time.

In January 2016, the Yiwu-Teheran route was launched, becoming the first Chinese train to travel to the Middle East. Ten months later, the Yiwu-Riga route was launched.

On Jan 1, 2017, the Yiwu-London route was launched, with the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train becoming the first Chinese train to travel to London. In October 2019, the first cross-border e-commerce China-Europe train was launched, traveling from Yiwu to Liege, Belgium. In May 2020, the China Post train departed from Yiwu, heading to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.

In October 2020, the Yiwu-Hanoi route was launched, becoming the first international logistics channel from Zhejiang province to Southeast Asian countries.

In June 2021, the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train made its first trip carrying tea from Yiwu to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. On July 2, 2021, the first China-Central Asia and Europe multimodal transport train departed from Yiwu to Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and other countries.

On Dec 14, 2021, the first Yiwu-Laos international freight train departed from Yiwu, marking the opening of the 17th route from the Yiwu platform.

On Sept 30, 2022 the first Yiwu-Kadikoy (Turkey) train departed, marking the opening of the third new southbound route from the Yiwu platform and the 18th new route in total.
