Yiwu, Pakistan eye further cooperation
A delegation from Yiwu, led by Deputy Mayor Wang Wei, visited the Consulate General of Pakistan in Shanghai on Feb 21 to further cooperation between Yiwu and Pakistan.
During the meeting, Wang briefed attendees on Yiwu's significant development achievements in traditional market upgrading, supply chain expansion, and emerging industry cultivation over the past decade.
Wang emphasized that Pakistan is an important trade partner of Yiwu and that there is a large number of Pakistani people working, running businesses and living in Yiwu. Pakistani-registered companies invest more in Yiwu than companies from any other country.
Wang also pointed out that in 2022, the local government of Yiwu organized a charter flight for Pakistani businessmen to come to Yiwu to buy goods.
Wang invited Consul General Hussain Haider to attend the China Yiwu Cultural and Tourism Products Expo, which will be held at the end of March.
Haider thanked Yiwu for providing a good business environment for Pakistani businessmen. He believes that Pakistan and Yiwu have broad space for cooperation and suggested that the two governments should build platforms to further promote trade between China and Pakistan at an appropriate time.
