Yiwu makes remarkable achievements in 2022

Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang province made some remarkable achievements in 2022, according to the latest government work report delivered at the second session of the 16th Yiwu Municipal People's Congress, which was held on Feb 1.

The city saw a 4.6 percent year-on-year increase in GDP, reaching 183.55 billion yuan ($27.23 billion), and the general financial revenue exceeded 20 billion yuan for the first time, reaching 21.16 billion yuan.

The imports and exports of Yiwu jumped 22.7 percent year-on-year to 478.8 billion yuan. Exports increased 18 percent year-on-year to 431.64 billion yuan, while imports soared 93.5 percent to 47.16 billion yuan.

The per capita disposable income of Yiwu residents has ranked first in Zhejiang for the past 16 years.

The city's first small commodity overseas market started operating in Dubai last year, and local businesses established 181 overseas warehouses in 52 countries.

A total of 1,569 Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains operated in 2022, up 22.8 percent year-on-year.

In addition, Yiwu brought in 47 major industrial projects with a combined investment of 80 billion yuan and saw an additional two enterprises achieve an annual industrial output value exceeding 20 billion yuan.

The city also introduced seven national-level talents and 45,000 university graduates last year, while its investment in research and development expanded by 37.8 percent year-on-year, ranking first in Zhejiang province.

The average concentration of PM 2.5 in Yiwu has met the phase-two standards of the WHO for the past two years, and the city's good air quality rate reached 97.3 percent in 2022.
