Yiwu receives nearly 230,000 visitors during Spring Festival holiday

Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang province received 228,455 visitors during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday, generating 53.69 million yuan ($7.94 million), up 54.4 percent and 300 percent, respectively, from last year.

The most popular scenic attractions in Yiwu during the holiday were Fotang Ancient Town, Desheng Rock Forest Park, and Huangxi scenic area.

Cheng Chengzhong, who is in charge of the Huangxi scenic area, said that around 2,500 tourists visited the scenic area per day during the seven-day holiday.

During the holiday, the cultural centers in the city's villages all hosted a series of activities to celebrate the traditional Chinese festival and create an immersive atmosphere for locals to experience Yiwu's culture.

Spring Festival-themed games organized by the Yiwu Library were participated in by more than 70,000 people, while the Yiwu Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum reproduced interesting customs of the city during the Spring Festival.

Yiwu's box office revenue exceeded 11.68 million yuan during the holiday and the top earners included the sci-fi blockbuster "The Wandering Earth II" and the twist-filled hit "Full River Red".
