Yiwu recognized for agricultural reform efforts
Yiwu's agricultural standard land reform promoting agricultural efficiency and farmers' incomes has been named the best case in Zhejiang province in the coordinated development demonstration field of urban and rural areas, according to local media outlets.
Agricultural standard land refers to arable land within the city that conforms to the overall land use plan and modern agricultural industrial development plan, meets the requirements of relevant control indicators, and is used to attract projects to develop modern agriculture on the basis of land transfers.
In 2019, Yiwu lead agricultural standard land reforms in the province. By building the agricultural standard land system, improving the agricultural standard land transfer mechanism, and promoting the digital reform of agricultural standard land, it improved land quality, expanded land area, and increased the efficiency of agricultural land.
Since then, Yiwu's grain planting area has increased by more than 8 percent annually, the utilization rate of cultivated land has increased by more than 5 percent, and the amount of pesticide use per mu has decreased by more than 30 percent.
The per capita disposable income of rural residents in Yiwu increased from 36,389 yuan ($5,206.66) in 2018 to 46,121 yuan in 2021, ranking second among counties and county-level cities in China.
