Yiwu exports new energy vehicles via freight train route to Europe

A batch of new energy vehicles were loaded into containers of Yiwu-Europe freight trains at the Yiwu Railway Station on Nov 30. They are expected to leave for Poland soon and arrive at their destination in about 15 days.
Since 2019, Yitong Europe Logistics Co has been transporting new energy vehicles, auto parts and used cars by Yiwu-Europe freight trains. The company now provides such services to many automobile manufacturers, including Geely and Volkswagen. So far, the company has transported thousands of vehicles via Yiwu-Europe freight trains to many countries, including five countries in Central Asia, Belarus, Poland, France, Germany, Sweden, and Spain.
Bao Yuefei, general manger of Yitong Europe Logistics Co, said that Yiwu-Europe freight trains can provide fast and safe services for whole-vehicle transportation.
On April 16, 2019, Geely's pilot special Yiwu-Europe freight trains departed from Yiwu.
Yiwu received approval to export used cars at the end of 2019. On Feb 9, 2021, the city sent the first Yiwu-Europe freight train carrying used cars to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
China has been the top producer and seller of new energy vehicles for many years, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. From January to October this year, China exported 499,000 new energy vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 96.7 percent. Most of the products went to countries in Western Europe and Southeast Asia.
In the first nine months of the year, the output of new energy vehicles in Zhejiang province was 416,200, occupying over 10 percent of the domestic manufacturing market for the first time.
