"I work on processing gloves, and I can earn over 300 yuan ($41.52) a month", said Mao Yuanyuan, a person with disabilities at the disability care center in Shimen town, Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, Zhejiang province.

Individuals with disabilities such as Mao can earn over 1,000 yuan a month in addition to subsidies, resulting in a total income exceeding 3,000 yuan per person per month, according to Zhou Jianmin, a worker at the center.

Zhou further noted that the center currently accommodates 42 individuals with disabilities, offering them three daily meals at no cost. Zhou and her colleagues diligently care for them, organizing activities like physical exercises and rehabilitation training during leisure hours.

Established in 2019, the facility has designated areas for vocational training and rehabilitation as part of its commitment to fostering common prosperity among the community, according to Wu Kongfu, the town's deputy head.

Wu also mentioned that authorities have introduced businesses such as a barbershop, a workshop, and a convenience store to help these individuals acquire essential life skills and boost their incomes.

More than 30 individuals with disabilities have received vocational training at the center, according to authorities.
