Yellow tea brings prosperity to farmers in Quzhou

Yellow tea grown in Hecun village, Quzhou recently entered harvest season.

Yellow tea is a special type of tea that has a unique flavor and health benefits, and it has become a source of income for local farmers. The yellow tea planting area in Hecun village currently exceeds 400 mu (26.67 hectares).

"At first we had just a small tea processing workshop, but now it is getting bigger and bigger. We not only established the Yunding Tea Industry Cooperative, but also obtained a food production license last year," said Chen Jiehua, a resident of Hecun village.

In 2015, Chen and her husband transferred 20 mu of land from villagers to grow yellow tea. With the help of policies and experts, her cooperative is getting better and better. "We have to hire more than 30 people when we are busy. In the past two years, the cooperative's revenue has exceeded 5,000 yuan ($686.07) per mu."

Fu Yueyun, a resident of the village, said that she can earn about 300 yuan a day from picking tea leaves.

In addition, the village has built a characteristic pavilion and a homestay to attract more tourists and let them experience the tea culture and natural beauty of Hecun village.

The collective income of Hecun village exceeds 400,000 yuan, which is more than 300 times the amount in 2007, and the per capita disposable income of the whole village has increased from less than 2,000 yuan in 2007 to 29,757 yuan today.
