Lawn bowls is an official competition of the Hangzhou Asian Para Games. It originated in the British court and has a history of hundreds of years. During the competition, athletes from both sides take turns throwing balls towards a target ball that is thrown out in advance, and the side closer to the target ball scores. Because the rules are similar to curling, lawn bowls is also known as “lawn curling”.
Lawn bowls became an official competition event for the first time at the 2014 Incheon Asian Para Games. The lawn bowls event of this year’s Asian Para Games has 24 sub-events in eight levels each for men's singles, women's singles, and mixed doubles. The competition will be held from Oct 21 to 27.
