Tourism thrives during 'double holiday' in Quzhou
This year's eight-day holiday from Sept 29 saw the Mid-Autumn Festival combined with the National Day holiday, leading to a boom in Quzhou's cultural and tourism market. With abundant touristic offerings, diverse activities, and a festive ambiance, the city experienced a surge in visitors.
The city received over 1.87 million tourists during the holiday, registering a 10.19 percent year-on-year increase, ranking fourth within Zhejiang province in terms of growth, per the city's cultural and tourism bureau.
Key scenic areas witnessed a significant inrush of visitors, with a sharp 145.2 percent year-on-year increase in the number of guests at 14 major scenic areas in the city.
Innovative tourism like gourmet-oriented trips, immersive adventures, stargazing camping, and citywalk activities captured immense popularity. Landmarks such as Shuitingmen Historical and Cultural Block and Beimen Historical Block attracted nearly 330,000 visitors.
High demand directly pulled up the bookings of hotels and homestays. Tourist spending on that account has notably risen, a key spur to the economy. The average occupancy rate of star-rated hotels reached 63.85 percent, while that of homestays was 66.05 percent.
Quzhou hosted a total 859 public cultural events during the period. These events and public service facilities received 239,000 attendees, including 88,400 visitors to the Nankong Bookstore.
Meanwhile, driving emerged as the preferred way of travel, as it allows visitors to explore lesser-known attractions along the way.
The holiday has amplified Quzhou's allure for tourists traveling inside the province among a diverse spectrum. Visitors from Hangzhou, bolstered by the sway of the Asian Games, comprised the largest share at 9.8 percent. From those outside the province, the top sources were Shanghai, Jiangsu province, and Jiangxi province.
