On Oct 7, Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, the world's top-ranked badminton mixed doubles pair, won the gold medal for China at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games.

The Chinese duo beat the Japanese pair in two straight games with scores of 21:15 and 21:14, achieving a third consecutive championship for China in this event at the Asian Games. This was also the 190th gold medal for China at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games.

Zheng and Huang are all from Zhejiang province. The 26-year-old Zheng Siwei is from Wenzhou, and the 29-year-old Huang Yaqiong is from Quzhou.

"For this game, Yaqiong and I did a lot of preparation. We are very happy to defend our mixed doubles championship at home," said Zheng. "Everyone gave us a lot of encouragement and support," said Huang after the game. "We hope our hometown people will give us more support. We will play well in every game before the Olympics."
