The opening ceremony of the third "Lanke Cup" Zhejiang-Taiwan Youth Go Tournament kicked off at the Quzhou Cultural and Art Center on Aug 24.

The tournament was also part of Quzhou's efforts to develop the city into a " holy land for go" and promote Chinese go culture around the world. Taiwan, as a protector of Chinese culture, also values the preservation and promotion of go culture. The tournament was a way to strengthen cultural ties and mutual understanding between the two sides of the Strait.

The competition will be held from Aug 26 to 27, with a total of 80 players, 40 each from Zhejiang and Taiwan. The players will be divided into two groups according to ability level. The top 12 players in each group received prizes, bonuses, and certificates from the organizer.

During the event, players from Taiwan also visited various scenic spots in Quzhou, such as the Longyou Grottoes, Lanke Mountain, Temple of Southern Confucianism, and Jianglang Mountain.

"It's my first time in Quzhou, and it's also my first time participating in such a competition. I think Quzhou has a rich culture," said Taiwan player Zhang Chenrui. He has studied go for six years, "Facing the competition, I'm a little nervous. I hope I do well."
