The "Changrong" freight train loaded with 49 TEUs of photovoltaic components set out from the Quzhou Juhua Special Railway on Aug 11. Six hours later, it arrived at the Beilun Port Station of the Ningbo Zhoushan Port Railway and its goods were unloaded and transported to the Netherlands.

The "Changrong" freight train is a special train launched by Zhejiang Juhua Logistics Co Ltd to transport goods from Quzhou to Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

The photovoltaic components transported by this special train mainly come from two companies: DAS Solar Co Ltd and Zhejiang Longi Lerri Solar Technology Co Ltd.

Photovoltaic components are usually transported by road due to their large size and high added value. In recent years, Zhejiang Juhua Logistics Co Ltd has begun transporting containers, and many photovoltaic companies have switched to rail transportation.

Yang Haibin, head of the sea-rail intermodal project of Zhejiang Juhua Logistics Co Ltd, said that with the special train, it only takes six hours for goods to reach Ningbo Zhoushan Port from Juhua. In addition to saving time, transportation costs are 10 percent lower than road transportation.

In recent years, Quzhou has been continuously optimizing and adjusting its transportation structure and has developed multimodal transportation, greatly increasing efficiency and reducing costs for enterprises.

The city's railway transport volume has increased by an average annual rate of 10 percent. Water transportation has also grown rapidly. From January to June, the cargo throughput of Quzhou Port was 3.75 million metric tons, an increase of 61.8 percent over the same period last year. The volume of multimodal container transportation reached 11,400 TEUs, up 52.9 percent.
