Wenzhou recently set up a nucleic acid testing station for imported fruits, local media outlets reported.

The 5,000-square-meter station can accommodate 10 container trucks at once and is able to test 1,000 metric tons of imported fruits. So far, 240 fruit samples from 20 trucks carrying 347.27 tons of imported fruits have been tested nucleic acid negative.

The test station was the third of its kind in East China's Zhejiang province to carry out specific nucleic acid testing of imported fruits, with the other two in Jiaxing and Jinhua cities, respectively.

The station is expected to help fruit dealers andsecure Wenzhou's leading role as the first stop in south Zhejiang for imported fruits.

From registration to recording nucleic acid results, the whole process has been connected to the Zhejiang Food Chains online management system and the origin and reliability of the fruits is now traceable.

Thanks to improvements in transportation and operation efficiency, imported fruits in Wenzhou are expected to decline by 10 percent in price and increase by 30 percent in total sales revenue.
