The Zhejiang Lab and China Future Internet Engineering Center (CFIEC) signed a cooperation agreement on March 27 in Hangzhou, establishing the Zhejiang Lab Future Internet Research Center.
The research center will carry out research on the development of the internet, including protocols, hardware and security technology. It will focus on the IPv6, the most recent version of the Internet Protocol (IP).
The internet research center is a subsidiary of Zhejiang Lab. It will establish an organizational structure that includes a chief scientist and an advisory group.
Targeting talent from around the globe, the center will recruit a research team of international professionals in 2018.
"The Future Internet Research Center of Zhejiang Lab will adhere to national strategies and undertake research on major projects," said Liu Dong, director of CFIEC. Liu explained that by building a professional and international research team and establishing a high-end think tank, the center will compete on a global scale and strive to become a top testing center for the most advanced internet technology.
