Ningxia has been invited to participate in the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP16), which is being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia until Dec 13. Ningxia will also host a side event at the “China Pavilion” in the Blue Zone of the COP16 venue, themed "Promoting Ecological Restoration and Prosperity in Fragile Areas: Exploring Pathways to Achieving Sustainable Development Goals".

Ningxia serves as a model for China’s efforts to combat desertification. Over the years, it has leveraged its regional resource advantages to develop distinctive desert industries such as goji berries, wine and photovoltaics, pioneering a path that integrates ecological restoration with economic prosperity.  

During the conference, Ningxia will showcase its achievements in desertification control through specialized reports, video presentations and product tastings. Representatives from the UNCCD, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Bank and various countries will be invited to exchange ideas and discuss sustainable development pathways that combine ecological restoration and green industry development in fragile regions. Ningxia aims to highlight its solutions, wisdom and commitment in combating desertification on the international stage.
