The 2022 Tonglu Talent, Science and Technology Week was launched in Tonglu county, East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 9.
The event, which is in its 11th edition this year, comprises an opening ceremony, a job fair, forums, and innovation and venture contests, and is slated to run until Nov 16.
The opening ceremony witnessed the inauguration of industrial talent alliances in eight industries - visual intelligence, magnetic materials, new energy, life and health, express logistics, tourism, e-commerce and homestay management, as well as the establishment of more than 10 talent recruitment platforms in Tonglu.
The local government has also conferred awards to premium talent and companies that excel in retaining talent and issued subsidies to help talent purchase houses in the county at the ceremony.
"I feel that Tonglu attaches great importance to talent, given their efforts to improve our working and living conditions here," said Chen Guisheng, an employee at Hikmicro. Chen has been granted a subsidy of 300,000 yuan ($41,379) to buy a property.
A job fair with 50-plus businesses from Tonglu providing more than 1,500 vacancies will also be held at the event.
Tonglu has in recent years emerged as a magnet for talent. It now boasts 70 national-level professionals. Two skilled people from the county have become World Skills Competition champions.
