Tonglu helps disadvantaged people weather epidemic
Tonglu county in East China's Zhejiang province has been striving to fulfill the needs of local residents, especially disadvantaged individuals, during the recent COVID-19 outbreak.
A green channel for drug delivery has been set up in the county for those with mental disorders and chronic diseases.
Huang Feiyang is among the beneficiaries of these efforts. On May 10, Huang raised a request for help to deliver drugs to his parents who suffer from chronic diseases. Just four hours after the request was made, a volunteer was activated to dispatch the medications.
In addition, the local government has been helping those with mobility difficulties to undergo nucleic acid tests. On May 11, Yan Sina, a resident in Gewu village, Zhongshan township, was transported to a nucleic acid testing site with the help of village cadres and volunteers.
Efforts have also been made by authorities to help enterprises address the challenges caused by the epidemic.
With the help of the bureau of agricultural and rural affairs, Hangzhou Shehong Poultry Co Ltd managed to quickly solve a problem related to the sale of eggs. To express his gratitude, Chen Jiahong, the company's president, donated eggs worth 20,000 yuan ($3,077) to local epidemic prevention and control authorities on May 11.
