Party members recently helped solve the labor shortage during the bamboo shoot harvest season in Eshan She ethnic township, Tonglu county.
Zhong Changgen, a farmer aged above 60 in Xinfeng village in the township, said that most young people have left the village to work in cities and this has led to a lack of labor required for the harvest.
According to Zhong, Party members helped him dig up dozens of kilograms of bamboo shoots every day. They also contacted local vegetable markets to ensure the timely sale of the bamboo shoots.
The incident exemplifies the active role Party members in Eshan has been playing in the township's pursuit of common prosperity.
Each village in Eshan currently has a volunteer team made of Party members that aids farmers with the harvest of fruit and vegetables.
In addition, Eshan has launched a campaign to encourage Party members to help low-income residents seek employment near home, promote learning among local residents and teach villagers how to sell agricultural products via commercial livestreams.
In June 2021, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council, China's Cabinet, unveiled a guideline to build Zhejiang into a demonstration zone for common prosperity.
This month, Tonglu unveiled the nation's first collective common prosperity standards for ethical villages.
The standards will evaluate the level of common prosperity of the Eshan She ethnic township based on aspects including culture, environment, industries, resident income and public services.
