Tonglu promotes learning among residents

Tonglu county in East China's Zhejiang province kicked off its annual learning festival on April 21.

The festival, initiated in 2001, comes as part of the local government's efforts to encourage residents to keep learning.

As part of the festival, a speech contest was staged during the launch ceremony, with 15 contestants delivering lectures on topics such as Tonglu's accomplishments since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, common prosperity and the Asian Games.

The festival, slated to run until the second half of June, will also include activities such as an essay competition and the release of a collection of 100 poems related to Tonglu.
