Hangzhou Qiu Genliang Food Co Ltd, a food company specializing in making mantou, or steamed buns, in a Tonglu village has in recent years seen robust development.
Located in Renzhi village, Tonglu county, Zhejiang province, the company sold over three million steamed buns worth more than 3 million yuan from September to December 2021.
The good sales can be attributed to the company's efforts to ensure quality, pursue innovation and expand sales channels.
It has inked sales agreements with many supermarkets and large catering companies while promoting its steamed buns via livestreams on platforms including Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.
In addition, the company has increased the steamed buns' fermentation time, which has made them easier to refrigerate, increased their shelf life and improved their taste.
More than 30 villagers are currently working for the company.
