Tonglu's gross domestic product (GDP) totaled 37.62 billion yuan ($5.78 billion) in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 2.1 percent, according to preliminary statistics released by local authorities.
The added value of the county's primary, secondary, and tertiary industries reached 2.53 billion yuan, 16.07 billion yuan, and 19.01 billion yuan, representing a growth of 0.4 percent, 2.4 percent, and 2 percent respectively.
The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size in Tonglu increased 3.1 percent year-on-year to 9.17 billion yuan.
A pillar industry in Tonglu, the construction industry achieved 2.96 billion yuan in added value in 2020, up 4.7 percent year-on-year and accounting for 7.9 percent of the county's total economic output.
Tonglu's imports and exports rose 0.4 percent year-on-year to 7.531 billion yuan, with exports rising slightly to 7.023 billion yuan.
In 2020, the county's actual use of foreign investment totaled $142 million, up 4.2 percent year-on-year.
Its fiscal revenue for the year increased 0.4 percent year-on-year to 5.83 billion yuan.

Tonglu governs four sub-districts, six towns, and four townships — Tongju sub-district, Chengnan sub-district, Jiuxian sub-district, Fengchuan sub-district, Fenshui town, Jiangnan town, Fuchunjiang town, Hengcun town, Yaolin town, Baijiang town, Zhongshan township, Xinhe township, Hecun township, and Eshan township.
