Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, is a window to China through which people from other countries can see the nation's rapid changes and economic development. They can also experience its time-honored history, rich culture and beautiful scenery through the city's calling cards, including West Lake, tea and silk. I believe the Hangzhou Asian Games will be a great opportunity for the city to promote itself.

The reporter competition is an effective way for the organizing committee to stimulate students' enthusiasm for the Games, since the number of our students in China is very large. If one student can affect 10 classmates, 10 can affect 100 and 100 can affect 1,000. With that in mind, I believe the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 will have a great influence on the city, China, and across the whole world.

The student reporters should be able to communicate with athletes, coaches and technical officials from various countries without barriers.

It is necessary for them to have an in-depth understanding of each sport and make a certain level of investigation into the background and preferences of all athletes.

Moreover, I hope these student journalists can learn various methods of multimedia, including the ability to shoot and edit videos and report events comprehensively.

Practicing spoken English frequently, learning from experienced journalists and reading excellent news-writing improve their reporting and are the best ways to grow as reporters before Hangzhou 2022.

The Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 is an opportunity for Hangzhou and China to showcase the culture and values nested in the city and country to the world. Reporters play a crucial role in that process by acting as the bridge connecting Hangzhou to the rest of the world.

Student reporters must have proficient language skills in Chinese and English. They should also be observant and possess strong analytical skills when drafting a news story or conducting an interview.

Finally, confidence is the key to any form of good communication and presentation. Confidence allows one to speak with more clarity and helps one build a friendly environment for effective communication.

I think the most important thing that young people should be aware of when reporting is not unlike what all reporters should be aware of. They should always be unbiased. Unless the news story is specifically for an editorial page, reporters should ignore their own feelings and biases to report news fairly and accurately.

I would like to wish these students the best of luck. I would also like them to remember that even if they are not selected, they are still successful for making it this far. It takes hard work, courage, and determination to take part in a major competition such as this. So, thank you, dear students, for your hard work, and best of luck to you in the competition. Keep striving for excellence in your lives.
