Cable industry is moving up industrial chain in Ningjin,Hebei

Wire and cable enterprises are scattered all over the county of Ningjin, Xingtai City, Hebei Province.

The industry in Ningjin started in the late 1970s and early 1980s. After more than 40 years of development, the scale of the industry has been growing and the fields involved have been expanding. The industry chain has been improving from single rubber sheathed soft cables to power cables, communication cables, aluminum alloy cables, special cables and other wire and cable products. Now, Ningjin has become one of the three industrial bases of the national wire and cable industry and the largest production base of the electric wire and cable industry in North China. It also has the national Special Wire and Cable Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, the largest professional inspection organization of the electric wire and cable industry in North China, and established the Hebei Electric Wire and Cable Industry Technology Research Institute.

"At present, there are 883 cable enterprises in Ningjin , with 7 well-known trademarks in China. The wire and cable industry has formed a development pattern that radiates to 11 towns and 61 villages in the county. In 2019, the electric wire and cable industry generated revenue of 20 billion yuan. And the taxes hit 370 million yuan, accounting for 19% of the county's total tax revenue and increasing by more than 30% for three consecutive years. The number of companies paying taxes of more than 500,000 has increased from 46 in 2016 to 151 in 2019, a more than three-fold increase over 10 years ago and playing an important supporting role in creating jobs, raising incomes and strengthening the economy...", said Li Xiaoping, head of Ningjin.

Behind Li are rows of representative products by Ningjin wire and cable enterprises. Among them, a "harmony" high iron model catch people’s eyes. And the model of cable is from Xingtai Xinhui CDH Copper Special Wire Co., LTD. According to its chairman Zhang Jindong, the company is a professional cable manufacturer for the national electrified railway and urban rail transit industry.

Different from Xinhui, Mingda Cable Group Co., LTD mainly produces special cables for subway light rail, wind power generation and aerospace. Lei Wenkang, deputy general manager of the company, said that Mingda has provided cable support for the "Chu Xin" shield machine, China's first with fully independent intellectual property rights.

The wire and cable industry of Ningjin has undergone many setbacks and challenges, but also accumulated a lot of experience in the past 40 years.

With the guidance of the government, the provincial and municipal industry and information Technology departments invited industry experts, worked out the special development plan for the wire and cable industry, successively issued two "eleven measures" and "Implementation Plan for the Improvement and Improvement of the Wire and cable Industry", and implemented the "evaluation and identification of benchmark enterprises".

In terms of brand quality, in order to improve the grade and competitiveness of the wire and cable industry, Ningjin has carried out continuous quality improvement actions, increased support for enterprises with advanced technology and high product level, cultivated key products, and built leading enterprises.

In the industrial chain, Ningjin has improved the upstream raw and auxiliary materials, and cooperated with Chinalco group to implement the high-end cable aluminum alloy material project, expanded the downstream product field, and promoted the production project of 2,000 sets of intelligent electrical equipment for power grids annually.

Driven by science and technology, Ningjin has established state-level testing centers, one provincial-level research institute, two provincial-level technology entrepreneurship centers, 11 city-level R&D centers, and 8 high-tech enterprises. It also guides enterprises to conduct independent research and development, masters core technologies, and adopts new technologies.

"In the future, we will build Ningjin into the first county of electric wire and cable in the North, which is corresponding to Yixing city in Jiangsu Province and has strong core competitiveness, and make Jiajiakou town to compete with Yixing’s Guanlin town," said Li.
