Updated:2020-09-18

After three successful days of the Smart China Expo Online 2020 (SCE), the curtain fell on the event at a closing ceremony held in Southwestern China's Chongqing Municipality.

Lijia Intelligent Park, where the closing ceremony was held, staged a series of entertaining performances which included a musical dance performance by robots and local school children, and a solo traditional dance routine performed before a stage backdrop featuring colorful animations themed on big data and smart technology.

As the closing ceremony of the SCE reached a conclusion, Wu Cunrong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and executive vice mayor of Chongqing, shared his assessment of the event.

"This event has been a vivid display for the image of Chongqing. As of noon today, 274 media outlets and 1,253 journalists from around the world have focused on the online smart Expo, releasing over 4,950 original reports, and dispatching 61,000 related newsfeed messages. Online media has registered a total of 890 million readership hits."

He added, "This not only reflects the unprecedented stature of the occasion, but also the unique glamour of Chongqing shown through the Smart Manufacturing Powerhouse and Renowned Smart City exhibition, and virtual exhibitions such as Online Chongqing. As a result, the international influence and reputation of Chongqing has been greatly enhanced."

Prize winners from competitions held during the SCE took to the stage to receive their awards from government representatives. These included winning contestants from the autonomous driving contest iVista, the Smart Cup for young innovative entrepreneurs in big data intelligentization, the Huawei Cloud Software Innovation and AI contests, and the Blockchain Application Innovation contest.

White paper release and "cloud tour in Lijia" launch

In a recorded video addressed to the audience, Liu Duo, President of the China Academy of Information and Communication, announced the release of a white paper on industrial Internet identification applications.

"At present, the internet identifier application resolves a number of industrial problems including product traceability, quality control, data loss, and system inter-operability. These inhibit enterprises in the process of decision making, and cause inconvenience to multi-dimensional data aggregation and processing capacity," said Liu.

In addition, the application "cloud tour in Lijia" was launched, which meant that users can pay virtual visits to Lijia Intelligent Park.

Impression and invitation

In a series of recorded video messages played during the ceremony, Portuguese ambassador to China Jose Augusto Duarte offered his impressions of the expo.

"The Smart China Expo Online is not only a large gathering of science and technology, but also global intelligence. I have benefited much from the cutting-edge views of many experts and scholars. Additionally, the joint participation of government, institutions, enterprises and universities has created unlimited space for imagination in smart industries. These factors instill me with confidence in Sino-Portuguese cooperation."

Wu Zhiqiang, an academician of the China Academy of Engineering, remarked, "Chongqing is in the process of transformation. With its indomitable spirit of 'mountain soul', we put wisdom innovation and people-orientation in the first place. In the future, we believe that it will show itself to the world as a more efficient, greener, more intelligent and more sustainable city to meet people's yearning for a better life."

At the end of the ceremony, the organizing committee sent its invitation: "Welcome back to Chongqing next year to create a smart era, share fruits of smart technology, and write a new chapter for a smart future."
