2020 Smart China Expo Online coming to Chongqing

The 2020 Smart China Expo Online (SCE OL) will be held online to ensure epidemic prevention and control. Running from 15 to 17 September, the SCE OL will be delivered through a series of conferences, exhibitions, contests, forums and product releases held in Chongqing.

Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTII) has stepped up as an event organizer of this year's event. Where Singapore was a guest of honor at the 2019 SCE, this year it will serve as co-host.

Integrating online and offline platforms 

The opening ceremony will be broadcast live on Sept 15 through the official internet platform. World-renowned scientists, heads of international organizations and industry leaders will gather to exchange the latest cutting-edge trends and industry developments.

The exhibition model will feature an innovative online display platform on the official website focused on smart products, manufacturing, smart cities, and other fields.

On the official Smart China Expo Online website (www.smartchina-expo.cn) there will be five virtual exhibition areas, namely Chongqing Online, Smart Products, Smart Applications, Smart Technology, and Regional Cooperation. Over 300 world-renowned companies in the big data industry have been invited to participate.

SCE OL will also have an offline presence in the form of two small scale boutique pavilions in the Lijia Intelligent Park Chongqing, to be called the Smart Manufacturing Town and Smart City.

Smart industry participation and direction

In comparison to the last two years, there will be greater enterprise involvement, with more refined content and updated formats.

At present, over 500 domestic and foreign heavyweight guests including Turing Award winners, world-renowned scientists and authorities in industry have been invited to participate in the conference in various ways.

Over 300 industry giants, including Fortune 500 companies both in China and worldwide, are expected to participate in the exhibition online.

More than 300 world-renowned and leading technology companies will exhibit online with the aid of virtual modeling technology, while cutting edge industry will participate in 41 forums and 17 competitions.

There will be 16 offline and 100 online releases to showcase the latest achievements in new technology, as well as new products and models in smart industry.

During the conference signing ceremonies and negotiations will be held in the interest of building a platform for cooperation and exchange between all parties.

The protection of intellectual property rights is to be further strengthened together with intelligent organization to offer a convenient online platform for a successful event that features the latest innovations in smart technology and meticulous craftsmanship.

Four Characteristic Themes

The 2020 Smart China Expo Online will emphasize the four themes of cyberspace, innovation, character and finesse.

An online approach will be adopted for the opening ceremony, summits, releases, exhibitions, competitions, and forums and will feature activities held simultaneously within the framework of this groundbreaking online platform.

Innovative technologies such as virtual reality fusion, live webcasts and holographic projection will be implemented during the expo. At the same time, a branch venue is to be set up in Singapore to bypass the limitations of time, space and geographical location, offering a real-time online smart fair true to its name.

In order to fully demonstrate the unique properties of smart technology in driving the economy and improving standards of living, a focal point of the exhibition will be on innovation in big data, and its role in building smart cities for high-quality development.

Intricate displays will be set up to offer new visual and immersive experiences featuring richer content and smarter effects, with the online format offering greater accessibility worldwide.

Additionally, the 2020 Smart China Expo Online is to adopt a more open-minded approach in order to deepen international cooperation in the digital economy.

International institutions and foreign scientists will make use of holographic projection, real-time connection, and other technologies to present lectures and releases, bringing  the latest cutting-edge developments and most authoritative voices to China.

Leading trends in technology

In terms of practical application, the Smart China Expo aims at driving the economy forward and enriching people's lives. During last year's SCE, Chongqing became a center for 5G ecological experiences. Following a year of hard work, over 42,000 5G base stations have been installed in Chongqing, accounting for more than 10 percent of the nationwide total. In just a few years, Chongqing has concentrated the advantages of supportive government policy, excellent logistics, convenient transportation, access to international expertise in industry pilot and demonstration zones where the latest innovations are quickly turned to practical application.

This year's SCE OL will continue to lead trends in technology. AR, MR, XR, and other technologies will be widely used throughout the conference. The online exhibition platform will use visual guides, flat video-on-demand, live broadcasts, online intelligent customer service, embedded virtual reality, live commentators, 3D product interactive data analysis, and many other exciting technologies.

These will use interactive, immersive, and scene-based display techniques to offer a range of fascinating and visually impactful on-site experiences. 

Competitions and activities 

In addition to branded competitions and activities, such as the i-VISTA Autonomous Vehicle Challenge and the 5G Innovation and Development Summit Forum, the national Bloom Cup 5G Competition will focus on 5G Cloud XR, 5G Ultra HD, 5G+AI and other key directions in order to build a 5G industrial ecology.

Events such as the Kunpeng Developer Contest and the AI Innovative Application Challenge are all aimed at empowering development in the intelligent industry. 

Online participation

In terms of innovative communication, the 2020 Online Smart Expo will form an ideal workshop for technological innovation and a hotbed for innovation connecting talented individuals and projects. It will also serve as a sharing platform where citizens can immerse themselves more deeply with popular science.
