A meeting reviewing Hangzhou's progress in preparing for the 2022 Asian Games was held on July 30, local media reported.
Zhou Jiangyong, Party secretary of Hangzhou, approved of the city's efforts and listed several requirements for balancing the preparation of the Games with the integrated development of Hangzhou.
He encouraged Hangzhou to strengthen its leading role as the provincial capital and host city by cooperating closely with co-host cities such as Ningbo, Wenzhou, Huzhou, Shaoxing, and Jinhua, and promoting closer ties between the organizing committee and various government departments.
Improving people's livelihood was another goal, as Zhou urged Hangzhou to upgrade its public services, accelerate industrial development, improve the city's appearance and environment, and transform outmoded conventions and customs.
Zhou also recommended the city integrate the Games with more intelligent and environmentally-friendly features in order to improve people's perceptions of Hangzhou.
To create a suitable climate for the Asian Games, Zhou encouraged frequent media coverage and wide civil participation, so as to bring out widespread public enthusiasm and keep the Games in the public eye.
