The stadium - one of 53 sporting venues for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games - is the only newly built stadium located in Hangzhou city proper and will host the table tennis competition.
Officials said that's what it was designated as a national sports centre in Hangzhou.
The stadium, which covers about 21,000 square metres, will be able to hold 7,000 spectators, over a total of three floors.
The roof grids were divided into 15 units assembled on ground and it took three months to hoist and assemble the grids using temporary supports, according to Su Fangsheng, project manager of the Grand Canal Asian Games Park.
This project is being overseen by the Gongshu district of Hangzhou.
In addition, the design and the construction of the stadium adopted building information modeling technology, which fully embodies the concept of the Smart Asian Games, officials said.
Moving forwards, the stadium will continue its roof construction and the erection of a glass curtain wall. The main body of the stadium is scheduled to pass inspection in March 2021.
