New locally transmitted COVID-19 case reported in Dalian
Dalian in Northeast China's Liaoning province reported a local COVID-19 case on Wednesday, according to local health authorities. The 58-year-old male patient works at a seafood processing factory.
His nucleic acid test for the novel coronavirus came out positive Wednesday morning, the city's health commission said.
The factory is engaged in the processing and cold storage of imported and domestic aquatic products.
The man, surnamed Shi, who now lives by himself in Dalian's Xigang district, is in stable condition now and has been taken to a designated hospital for COVID-19 patients.
He reported that he had not left Dalian 14 days before the onset of the disease, had no contact with any confirmed COVID-19 cases or people from key areas of concern.
He started to have a fever and fatigue symptoms on Thursday. He took some medicine and showed no improvement. On Tuesday he went to the Dalian Municipal Central Hospital fever clinic.
The Dalian Health Commission said close contacts identified are being quarantined for medical observation.
