The 2014 Asian Games officially opened in Incheon, a western port city in South Korea on Sept 19, 2014, and ran through to Oct 4, 2014.

It was the third time Korea had hosted the Olympic Council of Asia's showpiece event, following Seoul in 1986 and Pusan in 2002. The slogan was "Diversity Shines Here".
