Main structures built for two Hangzhou Asian Games stadiums

Construction on the main structures for the main stadium and natatorium of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, which will be used for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, was completed and passed inspection on May 11.

Next, the interiors will be built, equipment will be installed, and systems will be debugged.

A panel reviewed the construction work and offered its stamp of approval.

According to representatives of the organising committee of the Hangzhou Asian Games, the two stadiums were designed by the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design. Seen from above, they  resemble the shape of a butterfly.

The two stadiums cover an area of 396,950 square meters, the main stadium of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center offers 18,000 seats, and the natatorium offers 6,000 seats.

During the Asian Games, basketball competitions will be held at the main stadium, while swimming and diving events will be held at the natatorium.
