Forum on industrial design protection opens in SJTU

Industrial design plays an important role in promoting technological innovation, product competitiveness and industrial development, said an official.

A forum on the protection of industrial design was held at the KoGuan School of Law of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) on Oct 22.

The forum, part of the 16th Shanghai International IP Forum, was organized by the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration and assisted by the KoGuan School of Law and Intellectual Property and Competition Law Academy of SJTU.

SJTU attaches great importance to the protection, application and transformation of IP rights of scientific and technological innovations, including industrial design and inventions, said Zhou Cheng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of KoGuan School of Law, in his opening speech.

The forum included keynote speeches on the creation, protection and application of IP rights and discussions on important issues such as the international protection of industrial designs, the confirmation of authorization rights and the judgment of infringement.

Nearly 150 experts and business representatives from the Beijing High People's Court, Shanghai High People's Court, KoGuan School of Law, Kanazawa University and Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP attended the forum.
