Shanghai invention patents per 10,000 people reach 52

According to data from the National Intellectual Property Administration, to the end of August 2019, Shanghai had 126,023 valid invention patents, a year-on-year growth of 14.36 percent and accounting for 6.82 percent of the number of valid invention patents in China.

The data also shows that the number of invention patents per 10,000 people in Shanghai reached 52, and from January to August 2019, there were 1,629 PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) international patent applications in the city, with a year-on-year growth of 15.61 percent, maintaining steady growth.
