The Second "Forging Sword Cup" National College Student Cybersecurity Competition and the 2025 Cyberspace Security and Governance Forum were held from November 28-30 at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi’an, Shaanxi province. Supported by several national organizations, the event attracted over 320 participants from more than 80 teams representing 52 universities nationwide.
Zhang Yanning, vice president of Northwestern Polytechnical University, welcomed the participants and thanked the supporting organizations. She noted that nearly 200 teams from 86 universities entered the competition, with over 80 advancing to the offline rounds. Zhang encouraged students to develop their skills and contribute to building a strong cyber nation.

Li Jianhua, from the Ministry of Education, emphasized cyberspace as a key battlefield among major powers and highlighted the competition's role in addressing the cybersecurity talent shortage. Deng Pan, from the Shaanxi Provincial Committee, praised Northwestern Polytechnical University for its contributions to national defense security and for hosting the competition.
The opening ceremony included a flag presentation to the "Sword Casting Class" of the university's School of Cybersecurity and a signing ceremony for the Beijing Xin'an Century Cybersecurity Talent Scholarship. An expert report meeting followed, discussing programming languages, data security, and defense against unknown attacks.
Simultaneously, the 2025 Cyberspace Security and Governance Forum facilitated discussions on AI security, communication network security, and more.
After two days of competition, the L-Retired team from Xidian University won first prize. The JK team from Northwestern Polytechnical University and another team secured second prize, while the DeepWater team from Nanchang University and four others achieved third prize. Ten teams, including the Beetle Safety team from Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics, received the Excellence Award.
