English version of 'The Essence of Chinese Humanistic Culture' unveiled at Northwest University

On July 27, Northwest University, located in Xi’an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China, hosted the launch ceremony of the English version of "The Essence of Chinese Humanistic Culture" alongside the 2nd International Academic Symposium on Chinese Humanistic Spirit.

The ceremony and symposium are held on July 27 in Xi’an.

The ceremony and symposium were inaugurated by school leaders, experts, and scholars. Northwest University President Sun Qingwei graced the opening ceremony with a speech, while Fang Guanghua, a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, vice chairman of the All China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and former president of Northwest University, delivered a video message.

Over 140 attendees, including more than 10 experts and scholars from nine countries, as well as teachers and students from Northwest University, participated in the conference. The opening ceremony was overseen by Cao Rong, the vice president of the university.

Sun Qingwei highlighted the history and growth of Northwest University, emphasizing its reliance on regional cultural resources and commitment to preserving and promoting national culture, leading to the development of strong disciplinary advantages and academic achievements.

Sun praised the author of the book, Zhang Qizhi, for his significant contributions to the preservation and advancement of Chinese culture through his exceptional personal qualities, profound academic background, and remarkable scholarly accomplishments.

Fang Guanghua recognized the book as one of Zhang Qizhi's many outstanding works, noting its widespread recognition across various sectors for encapsulating Zhang's distinctive insights into Chinese culture.

Representatives from the translation team at Northwest University introduced team members, shared insights into their translation process, and provided English review comments.

Meanwhile, the Chinese and foreign representatives of the translation team at Northwest University also did the same process.

Following the book launch, the second International Symposium on Chinese Humanistic Spirit convened, featuring five Chinese experts and nine sinologists from the Chinese Language Association of the United Kingdom, Russia, France, South Korea, Turkmenistan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Kyrgyzstan  delivered keynote speeches.

The attending experts gave rich and diverse keynote speeches to the guests and students from four aspects: comparison and mutual learning between civilizations and cultures, comparative research on humanistic spirit and education between China and foreign countries, comparative research on Chinese and foreign cultures and literature, and practical case studies.

During their diverse speeches experts focused on themes such as comparative learning between civilizations and cultures, research on humanistic spirit and education in China and abroad, comparative studies on Chinese and foreign cultures and literature, and practical case studies.
