Chang'an University, one of China’s top engineering schools headquartered in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, recently hosted an academic seminar on Oct 28 focused on mineralization and exploration practices.
The event also served as a celebration of academic Tang Zhongli’s 70th anniversary in the filed of geology.
The seminar provided an opportunity for scientific exchanges and discussions on mineral resource exploration, and aimed to foster a bright future for the development of geological science.
The seminar is held at the university on Oct 28th.
The seminar attracted a diverse group of attendees. Among the highlights of the event was the screening of a special film titled "Seeking Mining for the Country, Teaching to Cultivate Talents". This film provided insight into academician Tang Zhongli's impressive 70-year career in geological work, specifically highlighting his significant achievements in mineral exploration and mineral deposit geological research.
Chen Zhijian, the secretary of the Party Committee of Chang'an University, praised Tang Zhongli's expertise as a renowned mineral exploration expert, deposit geologist, and geological educator. Chen highlighted Tang's 70 years of dedication to geological exploration and education, emphasizing his outstanding contributions to China's geological sector. Additionally, Chen acknowledged Tang's ongoing leadership at Chang'an University in advancing the geoscience discipline and mentoring geoscience professionals.
Chen further emphasized the importance of mineral resources as a critical foundation for economic and social development. He stated that the exploration and development of mineral resources are closely tied to the nation's economy, people's livelihoods, and national security. Over the years, Chang'an University has consistently prioritized its role in serving the country's development, offering both vital talent protection and technological support for various sectors of the national economy, society, and local industries.
Tang Zhongli, born in October 1934 in Anqing, Anhui province, and graduated from the Beijing Institute of Geology in 1956. He was elected as an academician of the CAE Member in 1995 and joined Chang'an University in 2000.
During the seminar, the establishment of the New Energy Mineral Resources Development and Application Research Institute at Chang'an University was announced, marking an important milestone for the university's commitment to advancing research and technology in this field.
