The 112nd (2021) Commencement Ceremony of Xi'an Jiaotong University was held on its Xingqing campus on July 3.

The university, based in Xi’an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China, witnessed its 8,492 graduates begin a new stage in their lives. Of the total, 3,907 were undergraduates, 3,937 were master's graduates and 648 were doctors.

Lu Jianjun, secretary of the university Party committee, said at the ceremony that graduates should adhere to the mission of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, continue to learn and grow, and make contributions where the motherland needs.

Wang Shuguo, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University, delivers a speech at the ceremony, telling graduates that the year they graduated is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the party.

Wang said that he expected the graduates to keep Jiaotong University's school motto firmly in mind, and to make due contributions. 

Liu Xiaoxue, a master's degree graduate from Finland who first saw Xi’an Jiaotong University 20 years ago when she came to China on tour, delivers a speech at the ceremony.

The Finn, whose Chinese name is Liu Xiaoxue, said at the ceremony that six years of schooling not only gave her knowledge, friendship and honor, but also made her a real Xi'an girl.

“In the future, I will work in China and make my own contribution to the cultural exchange between China and Finland and the international dissemination of Chinese culture. I love Jiaotong University,” Liu said.  

All the graduates took the oath.
