The activity of "Perceiving China -- Ten Years of Silk Road Archaeology for Keeping up with the Sages" was successfully held on June 15 in Xi'an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China.

Sponsored by the National Scholarship Committee of the People's Republic of China under the guidance of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education, and hosted by Northwest University, which is headquartered in Xi’an, the activity attracted more than 40 foreign students from 19 countries who are now studying at Northwest University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Chang'an University and Shaanxi Normal University.

During the activity, professor Wang Jianxin, leader of the Central Asian archaeological team of Northwest University and director of the Silk Road archaeological center, and Li Chen, reporter of the Information Office of the Party committee of Northwest University, made special reports on "the Silk Road and cultural exchanges between the East and the West" and "Dream pursuers running on the Silk Road".

They described the footprints of the Central Asian archaeological team that followed Zhang Qian's mission to the west to find the cultural relics of the ancient Yue people, to explore the historical process of people’s migration and exchanges along the Silk Road, and to explore new research fields and the latest achievements.

Their reports showed that the members of the Central Asian archaeological team were committed to promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning as well as people to people exchanges, and to serving the countries along the Silk Road at the forefront of archaeology.

Subsequently, the students visited the Museum of Northwest University and went to the Tanghuang City Wall Hanguangmen Site Museum in Xi'an for field study and investigation to experience tile rubbing technology.

The foreign students have high energy discussions about the cultural experience.

During the exchange and discussion session, Suhe and Bilong, foreign students from Uzbekistan, combined their own research directions to share their archaeological work experience and academic research progress, as well as their rigorous academic philosophy and unique scientific research methods online.

Through listening to special reports, visiting museums, conducting academic exchanges and making hands-on rubbings, this "perception of China" activity not only helped foreign students deeply feel the charm and significance of archaeological work and understand the advanced deeds of teachers and students of the Central Asia archaeological team of Northwest University, but also increased their appreciation of the contribution of the Silk Road civilization and history and culture to the development of today's world.

The foreign students further strengthened their belief in adhering to the spirit of the Silk Road, based on learning and scientific research, as they strive to be "dream pursuers" on the road of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and help build a community of shared future for mankind.
