The Belt and Road Initiative brings both opportunities and challenges for international law education, experts said at a law education seminar on Sept 16.
The International Symposium on the "Belt and Road Initiative " and the Future of Global Legal Education was a part of the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of Xi'an Jiaotong University School of Law with more than a hundred experts and representatives in law education from all over the world in attendance.
Attendees noted the achievements the School of Law has made in the past ten years and put forward their suggestions for a better future for the school.
Seminars with themes of "how the Belt and Road Initiative could benefit the globalization of law education", "the future of accreditation of law sciences", and "the future of legal professions and law education" were held on the anniversary day.
Experts agreed that the Belt and Road Initiative promotes the cultivation of international law talents, the construction of cross-border law systems and an international service for law consultations.
However, law education also faces challenges in new teaching modules, curriculum settings and the allocation of teachers.
Adopting data science technologies such as big data and information technology into discipline assessment and law education was also a hot issue discussed among the experts.
During the seminar, the school was accredited by QS as the World's First 5-Star Law School.
QS is a Britain-based company focusing on offering global education market consultation service. It is an international higher education network platform connecting universities, business schools and students.
The School of Law of Xi'an Jiaotong University was launched in 2008 and is one of the nation's first practical and interdisciplinary educational bases for law talents who will focus on foreign affairs.
