By the autumn of 2019, CUFE will be 70 years old. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude and high respect to all those who have supported the development of CUFE, including the faculty, students, staff, and all alumni. You are cordially invited to join the CUFE community for a celebration that will take place on a date to be selected later in the golden season of autumn in 2019. We look forward to the excitement of being joined by alumni from all parts of the world, and the delight of welcoming distinguished guests, elderly and young alike, from various walks of life.

Together we will:

- Celebrate 70 years of achievements and progress as a top national university

CUFE was the first modern university of finance and economics established by the central government immediately following the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) when the country was in urgent need of talents. Since then, CUFE has become a cradle for financial and economic professionals in China. It gained fame in the 1960s, became more prominent at the beginning of the reform era, and has reached its peak in the new millennium. Through 70 years of dedicated efforts, CUFE has evolved into an institution of higher education with economics, management, and law as its pillar disciplines, combined with a balanced set of other disciplines such as literature, philosophy, science, engineering, education, and art. CUFE has been successively designated by the national government as a key university under “Project 211”, a first-batch university for the development of sponsored discipline innovation platforms under “Project 985”, and a “Double First Class University”. The 70-year history of CUFE coincides with that of the PRC, and CUFE takes great pride in having played a part in laying the foundation for the country’s revitalization and in having contributed to national development thereafter through its top-notch scholarship and education.

- Commemorate 70 years of efforts in fulfilling our mission and pursuing our ambitions

CUFE upholds "loyalty, unity, truth and innovation" as its motto, adheres to the philosophy of "pursuing truth and excellence", and is adapting to the trend of “mass education” while retaining the quality of its “elite education”. It boasts an outstanding academic community consisting of both senior scholars whose ambitions never fade and young talents with exceptional motivation. The achievements and opinions of CUFE scholars are widely cited in the academic world, and often contribute to national policy making. The path taken by CUFE in the past 70 years has been one of trailblazing and exploration, of becoming stronger with every effort and hardship, of gathering the fruits of conscientious cultivation and care, and of forming an ocean of knowledge by gathering water from streams and creeks.

- Look beyond 70 years to seek greater excellence

The 70th anniversary of CUFE will take place at a time when China is entering a new era of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and a time when the Double First Class University Plan is just underway. Our fundamental purpose of cultivating virtues and nurturing people will not be changed. Higher education should contribute to a more prosperous country, and we are committed to plowing ahead towards that goal. We are rooted in China but will always seek to learn from other countries. We always care about the present but simultaneously look into the future. We will observe and follow the fine practices of higher education, pool the efforts of the faculty and the students, carry out reforms in greater depth, and act solidly in order to realize our ambitions and live up to the expectation of the faculty, the students, our alumni, and the country and its people at large.

What a pleasure it will be for the alma mater to welcome its alumni from all parts of China and the world to return to the campus for a happy reunion, and what a delight it will be to have friends coming from afar to join us for the celebration. We are envisaging scenes of long-separated teachers and students meeting each other, and of the campus being decorated to honor distinguished guests from various walks of life. We look forward to the opportunity of getting together with you to celebrate a remarkable anniversary and discuss strategies to bring CUFE to a new, higher level.
