The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) has announced a plan to recruit professors and talent from around the world in a bid to improve research and innovation at the Sino-foreign university.

Jointly run by the University of Nottingham and Zhejiang Wanli Education Group, UNNC was the first Sino-foreign university to be set up in China when it was founded in 2004. More than 6,000 students now study at UNNC.

To provide higher-quality education for its students, UNNC is investing 200 million yuan ($29.08 million) in the recruitment drive and hopes to attract some 20 professionals in fields like marine environment, magnetic resonance and new materials.

"UNNC was the first Sino-foreign university to be set up in China," Professor Chris Rudd, executive principal of UNNC, pointed out. "Now we want to build it into the best Sino-foreign university in China."
