Sichuan, Chongqing move to promote TCM integrated development

Updated: 2020-06-02

The Chongqing Municipal Health Commission signed an important cooperation agreement with Sichuan Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine on the integrated development of Traditional Chinese Medicine -- in Southwest China's Chongqing and in Sichuan province -- according to a June 1 report by news agency Xinhua.

The two sides will further strengthen their links and working relations in the comprehensive reform of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), TCM medical services, scientific and technological innovation and TCM personnel training.

Officials said they will do the same for TCM cultural exchanges and in other areas, so as to jointly promote the integrated development of TCM and TCM-related industry and culture.

The two parties will reportedly establish a joint meeting mechanism and jointly declare the establishment of a national comprehensive reform demonstration area for TCMs.

They will also establish a mechanism for cross-provincial and city cooperation for TCM development.

At the same time, the partners plan to build a TCM medical cluster in the Sichuan-Chongqing area.

Officials said they will integrate and optimize their respective resources, create a national TCM medical center and a regional TCM medical center.

They will build a TCM medical service cluster covering Sichuan, Chongqing and Guizhou -- and drive the all-round development of TCM medical treatment, scientific research and talent in the area.

In addition, the two sides will also carry out in-depth cooperation for training TCM talents.

Officials said they will build a highland for innovation of TCM science and technology in the Sichuan-Chongqing area, building a pharmaceutical industry economy, expanding the integrated development of TCM culture and foreign cooperation -- as well as co-constructing and sharing TCM information resources.
